Now I'm your ordinary guy
Happy just a gettin' by
My rig and I just rollin' up the miles
Try to keep the peace at home
With Facetime, text and telephone
Do my best to make my baby smile
There ain't a stop I haven't seen
From Austin up to Abilene
Watchin all those mileposts flyin' by.
Corpus, Waco, Lukenbach
Criss-crossin' all across the map
Like the crust on top a Texas apple pie
Last week I ran up Lubbock way
To get some rolls of prairie hay
Drove 'em down to Pecos in a storm.
But Baytown was my biggest pull
Hitched up to a reefer full of
Frozen shrimp just wantin' to get warm
Tomorrow when I'm pullin' in
With a pocket full of Benjamins
I'll start to honk my horn when I get close
When Mama meets me with a yell
She always makes it hard to tell
'f it's them or me she really loves the most!
(So) I'm haulin' ass, don't mean maybe
Pumped on truck stop grits and gravy
Washin' it down with a thermos full of joe.
Now it ain't the coffee has me shakin' --
'f I'm not bringin' home the bacon
Danged if I won't be Texas toast!
