I've been surrounded by good music all my life. My parents loved to sing and play. I've had really great teachers who cared about music and helped people enjoy it. I'm thankful to have been able to play professionally with some fantastic musicians and finally, to pass all that on to my son. Songwriting is an organic, sacramental thing. It engages my mind, my creative desires, my whole being. It is a pleasure. It is using a common grace, if you will -- using the creativity that God gives all people in some fashion or other. I have one primary songwriting goal: write well-crafted, enjoyable and meaningful songs -- songs about life, love, happiness, hurt and redemption -- mainly in the country music vein.
